DH's birthday is coming up, and he asked for some music software called "Band in a Box". He asked so late that it won't arrive in time, but at least it inspired his card, which I had been finding it very difficult to come up with any ideas for.
I used the principles of the pop-up box card tutorial, but changed the dimensions to suit the stamps I was using, and I only inserted one strip into the box.
I used a strip of card 7" high by 13 1/2" wide, scoring at 2 1/", 6 1/2, 9 and 13, and 3" up from the bottom.
I added wood panelling (embossed and sponged) on the front and side panels.
On the front I added a birthday sentiment and a fancy treble clef.
My band are all Penny Black stamps - alas, my drummer dog was out of scale. The cats would have been hard to fussy-cut, so the whole dimensions of the card were worked around being able to use them for the back panel. I cut a partial mask so that I could sponge brown in for the stage floor, and sponged the upper part with Antique Linen.
The hedgies were fussy-cut and coloured with Polychromos pencils. The mic stand needed strengthening, so I stuck a piece of florist's wire along the back of it. I stuck a narrow strip of acetate along the inner front edge of the card so that I could stick the singing hedgie and the mic stand to it. The trumpet-playing one was just fussy-cut with a tab so that I could stick him in the middle.

Wow Sabrina, what an amazing card for DH. I love how you actually made a "band in a box". It sounds like an engineering accomplishment to hsvrr gotten all the images seized corectly.
